Penny Hampson has undertaken several national large scale projects, usually involving community participation.  Some examples of these are learner pools for new public leisure centres in Tiverton, Devon and Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire; a tiled wall for a Deeside Community Hospital, based on the history of shipbuilding on the River Dee, involving patients, staff and visitors and a Millennium Mural for Wrexham town centre, involving primary school pupils and graduates of North East Wales Institute.
